In this free workshop, author Joanna Lillian Brown will describe stages of caregiving, discuss caregiving roles, introduce communications tools that can be used to facilitate care coordination and family dynamics, and offer suggestions for self-care for the caregiver. There will be generous time allocated to address the specific concerns and questions of participants. FREE and open to the public, but space is limited and preregistration is required by calling The Cancer Connection at 413-586-1642. The Cancer Connection is located at 41 Locust Street, across the street from Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, MA. (The book, Caring for Dying Loved Ones: A Helpful Guide for Families and Friends will be available for sale for $20.13 before and after the talk. Purchase of the book is entirely optional.)

In our death denying culture it is not always easy to find support if you are caring for elderly and ailing parents. In this free community service event, author Joanna Lillian Brown will describe four stages of caregiving, discuss different caregiving roles, from primary caregiver to helping from afar, and will offer a brief list of actions that can assure a higher quality of life for the parent and the adult-child caregiver. The author will take questions and comments from the audience following the talk. Free and open to the public. The book will be available for sale for $20.13 before and after the talk.
