In this free workshop, author Joanna Lillian Brown will describe stages of caregiving, discuss caregiving roles, introduce communications tools that can be used to facilitate care coordination and family dynamics, and offer suggestions for self-care for the caregiver. There will be generous time allocated to address the specific concerns and questions of participants. FREE and open to the public, but space is limited and preregistration is required by calling The Cancer Connection at 413-586-1642. The Cancer Connection is located at 41 Locust Street, across the street from Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, MA. In our death denying culture it is not always easy to find support if you are caring for elderly and ailing parents. In this free community service event, author Joanna Lillian Brown will describe four stages of caregiving, discuss different caregiving roles, from primary caregiver to helping from afar, and will offer a brief list of actions that can assure a higher quality of life for the parent and the adult-child caregiver.
